Smoothies in the Summer

Wow, it’s been a long time since I’ve last posted! I’ve had my head deep in the books studying nutrition and biochemistry online through the University of Bridgeport. So far, I’m absolutely thrilled with my experience and eagerly approach each day with the desire to learn more.

I’m on a study break, so I thought I’d post a few smoothie recipes I got from my buddy and fellow student, Tracy. She makes smoothies for a living and knows what people like. She also has a great skill for keeping things simple and efficient. I’ve got lots to learn from her – a retired Marine Logistics Officer – and fellow lover of a healthy lifestyle! Here’s a peak from her arsenal.

Play with the ratios and add a tablespoon or 2 of flax meal, chia, or hemp protein for added protein, fiber and good fats. My new favorite protein blend to add to any smoothie comes from Nature’s Sunshine – Love and Peas (tastes like cake batter, but is completely plant-based nutrition):

Green Melon:

Spinach or kale

Green Mango:

Spinach or kale

Green Pineapple:

Spinach or kale
